Shaun Golden was elected Chairman of the Monmouth County Republican Committee at the Party’s June 2014 re-organization convention. During his first term as Chairman, Shaun has modernized the Party’s online presence, drastically improved fundraising, formed a Diversity Council (which includes a Hispanic Coalition) to make the Party more inclusive. Most importantly, in 2014 he bested the Democrats in what proved to be one of the state’s nastiest, most expensive races. In spite of being outspent by a greater than 4-1 margin, Freeholders Lillian Burry and Gary Rich won by a comfortable 8 points. He followed that up by securing a 15 point victory for County Clerk Christine Hanlon and Freeholder John P. Curley in 2015.
An experienced law enforcement and public administration enforcement leader, Shaun is also the Monmouth County Sheriff. Before becoming Sheriff he was a law enforcement officer for 18 years, serving as a police officer with the Colts Neck Police Department, and then with the Toms River Police Department. He holds a Masters Degree in Administration from Seton Hall University and is a NJ Certified Public Manager and an adjunct professor at Monmouth University with the Department of Political Science and Public Policy. Shaun Golden lives in Farmingdale with his wife Catherine, and their two children.
